Bruit takes their name from the French word for “noise” or “rumor”. Bruit plays jazz, blues, folk, pop, and rock standards with a vibrant and energetic acoustic touch, often infusing pop and rock tunes with a jazzier edge.
Bruit is comprised of former UMBC music students who share a love for performing some of the best songs ever written and in a style all their own. Each member has performed with various acts in the Baltimore/DC area.
Jacqueline Morgia is a vocalist and percussionist who studied Music at UMBC as a Linehan Artist Scholar. She has been performing for 24 years. Her sultry vocal stylings convey a unique and genuine approach to renditions of classic tunes.
Joe Martone has been playing the bass for 15 years. He holds a degree and post-grad certificate in Composition from UMBC. His playing maintains the groups forward drive yet remains soulful and expressive.
